Towns and Surrounding Area
The Town of South Bruce Peninsula
We wish to acknowledge the Traditional Territory of the Anishnabek Nation: The People of the Three Fires known as Ojibway, Odawa and Pottawatomie Nations, and further give thanks to the Chippewas of Saugeen and the Chippewas of Nawash, collectively known as the Saugeen Ojibway Nation, as the keepers of this land.
The town of South Bruce Peninsula, a four-season destination, is nestled between the pristine, sandy shores of Lake Huron and the limestone cliffs and crystal clear shorelines of Georgian Bay. Wiarton, one of the larger communities, is located at the base of the beautiful Bruce Peninsula, and is often referred to as the “Gateway to the Peninsula”. Sauble Beach, a community located on beautiful Lake Huron, boasts the second largest freshwater beach in the world with seven kilometers of sandy beach. The Bruce Trail, Canada’s oldest and longest marked footpath, follows the Niagara Escarpment along the eastern shore of the entire Bruce Peninsula.
Northern Bruce Peninsula
The Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula, located north of The Town of South Bruce Peninsula, is home to many small communities including Tobermory at the tip of the Bruce Peninsula and Lion’s Head on the eastern shore. Other small communities are scattered throughout Northern Bruce Peninsula. This municipality enjoys the shores of Lake Huron to the west and Georgian Bay to the north and to the east. Northern Bruce Peninsula is recognized as a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve – an internationally designated protected area. The Northern Bruce Peninsula is also a refuge for dark skies and is a place to experience the natural and cultural wonders of night.
Saugeen Shores
Located only a short distance to the south and west of Wiarton, Saugeen Shores is home to the towns of Southampton and Port Elgin as well as Saugeen Township. Saugeen Shores is nestled on the shores of Lake Huron and features beautiful beaches and shopping and dining opportunities.
Georgian Bluffs
Georgian Bluffs is an amalgamated Township consisting of the former Townships of Keppel, Sarawak and Derby. It is located both south and east of South Bruce Peninsula. The Niagara Escarpment winds through the Township affording hours of enjoyment to both residents and visitors alike.

Located about 30 minutes from Wiarton, Owen Sound, once called the Cultural Capital of Canada, boasts many cultural hotspots as well as varied shopping, dining and recreational experiences.
